Dhaka, 7 July 2026 — From 4:15 PM to 7:30 PM, the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BWCCI) paid heartfelt tribute to its Founder President, Selima Ahmad, through a memorial programme at Gulshan Club, celebrating her remarkable legacy and lifelong contribution to women’s entrepreneurship.
In her welcome address, BWCCI President Sangita Ahmed reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to carrying forward Selima Ahmad’s vision of advancing women’s entrepreneurship, leadership, and economic empowerment.
A key highlight of the programme was the launch of the WE SELIMA (Women Entrepreneurs, Skills, Employment, Leadership, ICT through Mentorship & Acceleration) campaign and the unveiling of its official logo. The initiative was inaugurated by the BWCCI Board of Directors, together with Mr. Matlub Ahmad, Chairman of Nitol-Niloy Group and husband of Selima Ahmad, in the presence of Mr. Niloy Ahmad and members of the Ahmad family. The year-long campaign aims to inspire and empower the next generation of women entrepreneurs while carrying forward Selima Ahmad’s vision.
The programme was professionally moderated by Ridma Khan, Director of the BWCCI Board, who also delivered a heartfelt tribute. Distinguished international partners, including Susan Sarfati, Kim Bettcher, Camelia Bulat, Marc Schleifer, Biswajit Saha, and Naheed Mansoor, joined virtually to honour Selima Ahmad’s legacy.
Nearly 175 distinguished guests, including members of Selima Ahmad’s family, friends, development partners, and women entrepreneurs from across Bangladesh, attended the programme, celebrating the life and enduring impact of a visionary leader who transformed the landscape of women’s entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
During the open remembrance session, BWCCI members shared their cherished memories and paid heartfelt tributes to Selima Ahmad.
